The benchmark brand was introduced by Seagrams in 1968, and was produced primarily at their Louisville distillery. It was offered at 80 and 86 proof. The brand moved to New Orleans when purchased by Sazerac in 1989, and eventually started to be produced at Buffalo Trace as McAfee’s Benchmark. See also the Seagrams Timeline for more info.
