Heaven Hill was founded as the Old Heavenhill Springs Distillery after Prohibition’s repeal in 1935. Members of the Beam family have been master distillers since its inception, with Craig Beam taking over for Parker in recent years. The Shapira family has retained ownership of the company throughout. Of note, in 1996 the distillery (DSP-KY-31) and at least one warehouse were lost to a fire. For the next several years, other distilleries in the area pitched in by contract distilling. In 1999 Heaven Hill purchased the Bernheim distillery in Louisville, which had been operating since 1993. The company continues to distill at Bernheim under DSP-KY-1. Popular current brands are Evan Williams, Elijah Craig, Rittenhouse, Old Fitzgerald, Larceny, and Fighting Cock.
This bottle is interesting in that it was distilled at Heaven Hill and bottled at Stitzel-Weller.
