Wild Turkey 100th Anniversary Decanter, 4/5qt, 101pf, 1955

This bottle featured a hand-blown crystal decanter (possibly hand-painted also?) made by Hovmantorp, Sweden. It was made to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Austin Nichols grocery wholesale company.

Old Forester Bonded “Lamp” Decanter, 1953-1958

This decanter came with a mail-in envelope to order a kit that would convert the empty bottle into a lamp, similar to how some enterprising young bourbonites are making them today.

Weller Special Reserve 90pf Decanter, Pint – 1960s/70s

This bottle has no date code on the bottom. All that can be determined is that it was produced between 1964 and 1977, after Stitzel-Weller started producing whiskey below 100 proof, and prior to the next change in the tax strip type. If anyone has any further information on this bottle please email us!

I.W. Harper Bicentennial “Barrel” Bottle, 10yr, 86pf, 4/5qt – 1976

We’re not usually that excited by decanters or novelty bottles, but this is one of the coolest presentations we’ve seen. The barrel is extremely accurate, even down to the stenciled top and bung. The box is nice and opens in a fancy way. Very nice!

Jim Beam 8yr Bonded Decanter, 1968-1979

We don’t usually post Beam decanters since there are so many and they’re well documented elsewhere, but this one is interesting in that it’s bottled in bond. Also of note, this is a perfect example of a glut-era bourbon, labeled as an 8 year product but aged for 11 years.

Rebel Yell 10yr, 101pf Decanter ~1985

This same bottle design (and same whiskey inside) seems to have been re-badged for virtually all of Stitzel-Weller’s brands in the late 1970s through the mid-1980s, including Old Fitzgerald, Weller, and Rebel Yell. Decorative decanters were generally marketed around the holidays to be purchased as gifts.
